The municipality of Österåker wants Åkersberga to develop from a suburb into a modern small town with close access to the city as well as the ocean and nature. An important part of the development will take place in the area of the city centre that will develop into an area of urban blocks of houses and public spaces of high quality.The new structure will utilise the well functioning communications, create a denser network of streets, connections and visual axes, as well as develop the channel of Åker as a recreational room in the town core.
