Helsingborg conducts the urban development project H+ where former port areas turn into urban environments in integration with the existing city. Oceanpiren is the first developing area where new housing and offices are established in a spectacular way, close to the station. An attractive new front against the water is created.
The proposal for a new bridge to Oceanpiren is based on two grips that together gives the bridge a unique character, an efficient, functional and technical solution. The movement from the hub to the pier represents a shift from the intense and disturbing port traffic to an inviting urban area around the old dock and Oceanpiren. The constructive idea focuses on the nature of the difference and develop a bridge character where one end is more enveloping and protecting to the environment, and the other end is open and light. The colored slab forming a color stroke through the port scenery, clearly linking the two separated sections of the site.
