The Yellow Line

Stockholm is developing and the metrois growing with three new lines. &Rundquist is architect for the Yellow line, with three new stations: HagastadennHagalundArenastaden.

The assignment includes the design of the subway stations, from the planning stage to detailed design and production of a station-type, which will be the basis for the deployment of all new stations on the three lines.

The design of the new stations builds on Stockholm tradition, where each metro station has a unique expression, but where new standards of comfort, technology and safety create different conditions for the architecture. Each station will be portrayed in collaboration with artists.

In 2013-2014 Stockholm County Council arranged a parallel competition to develop Norra Hagastaden, a sub-area of Hagastaden. The proposal from Rundquist architects in collaboration with Nivå landskapsarkitektur and Ramboll was selected for further work with a planning program.

The project is located on the border between Stockholm and Solna and includes the current Karolinska Hospital area whose activities to the most part will move out to the southwest part of the neighborhood. The ambition is to develop the former hospital area to a district where housing, education, research, health, culture and entrepreneurship are united in a structure that create meetings and city life
