TVÄRBANA NORTH KISTAGRENEN

& Rundquist has worked with Tvärbanan Kistagren – a new tramline in the North of Stockholm, since 2012, and was involved in the process from early sketches and investigations to the detailed design of the stations.

The Kistagren line includes eleven stations, from Norra Ulvsunda to Helenelund, and the project will offer attractive public transport that provides the conditions for long-term sustainable urban development. The proposed route crosses through some of the Stockholm region’s most important development areas and the tramway aims to serve as a catalyst for urban development.

The design of the tram stops aims to create a particular identity and recognition by means of a clear design and visibility in the surrounding environment, with differing materials and components that are shaped uniformly.
The platforms are designed as a modular system that allows flexibility and adjustment to changed furnishing needs over time. The equipment is made out of painted and polished stainless steel, wood and printed glass.

The technical buildings along the line are a unique project in public art with their facades displaying art by Bebben Andersson, imprinted on prefabricated concrete surfaces.
