ROSLAG NÄSBY STATION

Roslags Näsby station is located within one of the urban development areas in Täby municipality.

The project aimed to modernize and expand the existing commuter train station with new platforms and a station bridge that replaced the former level crossing over the tracks. The new bridge works as an important link between the urban development on the west side of the rail tracks and the existing neighbourhood to the east. The stairs connecting to the overhead passage are provided with bicycle access ramps, improving connectivity over tracks for cyclists as well.

The shape, architectural expression and choice of materials are as simple as possible, the design follows clean shapes and honest materials. The station bridge is a fixed space to which all other functions connect to. The entrances to the station are shaped as light “wooden boxes” floating over the platforms and provide weather sheltering on the upper level, and at the same time allowing overview of the platform and the upcoming trains. It is easy and clear to get down or up.

& Rundquist, in collaboration with Täby Municipality and the Swedish Transport Administration, developed the design concept for the station, bridge and its connections while the detailed design has been carried out by the contractor Veidekke with Sweco as architect.
