The design for the bridge over Sundvall’s bay follows K * R * A * M Group’s winning proposal entitled “DoubleHug” in an open competition conducted between 1995-1996; KHR in collaboration with Henrik Rundquist Arkitektkontor-Ramböll- Anders Nyvig-Moller & Grönborg. The bridge’s span over the bay is defined by a smooth curve both in plan and profile. A steel wing-shaped deck is carried by slender steel rods atop solid concrete foundation pillars.
