We were commissioned by The Swedish Institute of Steel Construction to design a festive entrance in steel for this year’s Architecture Gala that took place at the Cirkus Hall in Stockholm. The time schedule was pressed, and it only took three weeks from the first sketch to the finished entrance on site, thanks to a good collaboration with The Swedish Institute of Steel Construction, Smederna AB, who welded the pieces together, and Far from standard event who arranged the lightening. We are pleased with the result and we found the task very joyful to work with!
This year Träpriset (The Wood Prize) turns 50 years which is celebrated by Svenskt Trä (Swedish Wood) by a calender of movie clips about spectacular and interesting use of wood.
Our wooden towers that were nominated for Träpriset (Wood Prize) 2016 are featured in the calendar.
Trafikplats Värtan was awarded with the Swedish Concrete Prize Helgjutet 2017.

As part of the Steel Construction Day on October 26, The Swedish institute of Steel Construction and the steel building branch awarded Henrik Rundquist with Silverbalken, a Swedish national award for particularly prominent efforts in the development of steel construction.
Last May Mandaworks and team – &Rundquist, Lola Landscape, Ekologigruppen and Noema – participated in a fourday international design workshop and planning assignment in Norra Kymlinge, Stockholm, Sweden. Our team has been part of an exiting process, a process of producing, testing and evaluating prototypes for strongly sustainable urban districts with Norra Kymlinge as an applied example.
The workshop, organised by Vasakronan AB, had the goal to address the planning and construction of a sustainable, resilient city district that is at the forefront of innovation and development, with a vision of creating a district that in the future will be worthy of the accolade “the best city district for the world”. In a short period after the workshop we have further developed the material into a final documentation: The SUR + CITY.
